4:30 AM is NOT the Time to Call Me...

I was here at 3 AM until 7 AM on overtime... Insanity followed. Townsville outdid itself. How you ask: by proving that it can still act like a small town with the decency to roll up its’ sidewalks at night. In 4 hours I answered 2 911 calls and one regular call, and a little bit of radio traffic. That's it.
The regular call is received every night, it’s another agency checking up on stuff. Of the 2 911 calls, one lady said there was a suspicious vehicle in the alley. Then she said they solved the case of the suspicious vehicle when they saw their friend sneaking out of the house and into the truck.
The other 911 call was funnier...
911 What is your emergency?
Well my husband has a real bad tooth ache.
I thought, "Seriously, you called 911 at 4:30AM for this?? This waited that long?!" I really felt bad waking my medics up and sending them out, especially as the caller went on to say that he had a tooth infection for a long time. He even threw up yesterday. (Poor thing.) They would be waiting in a purple vehicle in front of the house. (OK, and you can wait in the car so you don't wake up your mother, but you can't drive yourself to the hospital??)

When my medics returned from the hospital (that was 20 miles away, one way) I heard the rest of the story. The medic supervisor came in to say, "He didn't even have any teeth!!" He only had some fragments of a few teeth! There isn't a dentist at the ER anyway!! AND, his wife didn't have a valid drivers licence and he was in to much pain to drive. Then he says that they don't have any insurance! Keep in mind that the ambulance ride is like $$$$$ and each mile is extra $$. So where does he want to go, as far away as they will take him. Needless to say, my medics were thrilled to haul him across the state line and then come back.
